Brrrrrrrrr…Gives me a chill. Absolutely beautiful photograph – you’ve captured the blustery day perfectly, even down to camera angle, how it changes the perception of the lampost and the tree – it’s as if they too are being blown by the wind. ‘So powerful’ as Red Toenails says. Love it! Congratulations on being freshly pressed, I’ll definitely be taking a look at the rest of your art.
very nice shot. i love street photography, and this shot conveys a very nice mood. congrats on being freshly pressed. i was freshly pressed yesterday for the first time, and it’s a big honor!
The winter evening settles down
With the smell of steaks in passageways.
Six o clock.
The burnt out ends of smoky days.
And now a gusty shower wraps
The grimy scraps
of withered leaves about your feet
and newspapers from vacant lots
the showers beat
on broken blinds and chimney pots
and at the corner of the street
a lonely lonely cab-horse steams and stamps
and then the lighting of the lamps.
Quite breathtaking. I actually shivered! I’ve always thought that rainy days should be photographed in black and white, so of course I approve of your approach. I like your composition: the angle is intriguing, and the garbage contrasts nicely with the elegant buildings.
I absolutely LOVE black and white photo’s. They add a sense of mystery to certain pictures. The angle in which it was taken is amazing. The picture shows different types of architecture with the buildings. My first thought was, “This picture is absolutely stunning!” Congratulations, because sometimes a great picture like this takes a while to photograph (the right setting and atmosphere at the right time).
You are great and this picture is amazing!!! That’s actually what I’m doing for my imaging for the web project.
I really and truly enjoy this photo. (:
Beautiful photography, Remi – for me, your work captures the essence of Norway and fills me up with nostalgia. I lived and studied in Norway for a semester and treasure some beautiful memories.
Love the angle of the lampposts and the tree, good choice to do the shot from low down, it adds to the sense on perspective. Good timing as well – this wouldn’t be half as good without wet pavements.
I also want to explore deeper this passion of mine!
I am only starting. Nothing really exceptional in my work just yet.
But, I have the interest, and amazing landscapes surrounding me!
The motivation is there!
Most people would write that off as a miserable day – its time I got my camera out and did some serious work again. Although i do use one of my images on my blog.
Super photo – the leaning tree and lamp post next to a straight rail complete the movement in the image – really like it. Thanks for posting it 😉
Love so much this picture !
Those buildings are so neat looking. Question… is that garbage strewn about the ground?
That is indeed garbage
Beautiful picture. Great job Remis. you pictured everything so perfect. Hats off to you!
So evocative — the picture makes me cold just looking at it!
🙂
wow
Wow…I love the juxtaposition between the beautiful buildings and the garbage strewn about the streets. Very interesting.
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed. This is amazing photograph. Thank you, with my love, nia
Beautiful photography with a sense of despair. I like the shades of gray and how they play off each other. Nice work!
This is such a beautiful and artistic shot. Thanks for sharing and congrats on being freshly pressed!
So powerful. I love b/w photos!!
Quite pretty!

Thanks for sharing. I love this photo! Its very evocative. Great work!!
Unbelievable…
While I hate the trash on the street due to my recycling nature, it kind of makes the picture wonderful.
Great photo, so colourful!!
Great picture. That empty take-out box is so depressing.

Did you actually line up the picture and take many versions of it before choosing this one, or was it a shot you just happened upon?
It’s quite moving and viscerally connected.

It was a “happened upon” shot, freehand and wandering around to find motives.
Great angle. I love it in B&W too.

i don’t see this scenery often because it’s always nice and sunny here in our country…this is refreshing for me.
will be looking around your blog now…great shot! it looks windy and cold despite the fact that the photo is not even moving at all.
Each piece of paper is like a reminder of the homeless strewn about… a gift. a vision. a presence. a present. Lovely eye God has gifted you.
Nice shot… makes me want to stay inside where it’s warm and not so blustery! Great composition! Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
